HOW TO MAKE BABY BATH TIME THE BEST & SAFE FOR YOUR LITTLE ONE.

Babies love to explore and what’s a better way to let them discover the joys of playing with water and bubbles. Every baby loves to take a bath, to feel the drops, splash, and the smoothness of water on their little body. (okay lets admit it who doesn’t?) The bonus of giving a bath to baby is, it is a combination of playtime as well as time for relaxing.

Bath time ritual differs by age, which is why finding the right products for this happy activity is crucial when it comes to getting them clean, keeping them happy and ensuring they’re entertained. Utmost care has to be given to babies of younger ages and even for toddlers who can easily slip on the soapy water. To make sure your baby is cared for when splashing around, here are some of the things you should be looking out for when making baby bath time easy and comfortable.

1. Safety

The word safety could not be stressed more on this topic as bath time can be an overly exciting time for you child but also the chances of various mishaps increase. The most important point is never leaving a baby unattended alone during bath not even for a moment. Which leads to second point it is always a good idea to prepare everything you would need. This includes the things one would require during the bath time like the soap, toys, bath chair or pillow and also the things you would require after the bath like the towel, dry mat, change of clothes, lotion creams etc. Staying organized before hand lets you have your full attention towards your child, and you would not want to go look for diaper when the child is out of the bath wet and crying.

2. Use tested Toiletries

It goes without saying babies have very delicate skin. Anything you apply on their sensitive and soft skin could take away the natural oils or cause an allergic reaction. Hence, always a good idea to test out the soaps and lotions you want to use on your child’s delicate skin. Always use natural products, read the ingredients carefully and avoid harsh chemicals also avoid using too many or unnecessary products on the baby’s skin.

3. Distract them with Toys

Babies can become upset quickly when they are in a new setting and an irritable baby can make bath time twice as hard as it need to be. Make sure you’ve included some water-friendly toys in your bath time play set if your baby is getting grizzly.

If your baby hates having their hair washed or just likes making a mess, then some easy clean bath crayons are the perfect solution. These crayons mean your baby can doodle on the bath or tiles, needing only a quick wipe to clean the bath again. Just be careful to avoid using them in an area with a lot of grouting, as the crayons can stain this area of your walls.

A set of fun animal bath toys that squirt water is another option. Not only will these toys help your child to identify new species and verbalise them, but they’ll keep them distracted. They are also usually robust enough to withstand chews from little teeth. But always make sure they are cleaned and dried properly as damp inside could be home for mould and germs. For easy clean up you can also buy sets of cups that are stackable, linkable and can also be played with in sand. A great all-rounder!

Anything with bubbles is guaranteed to put a smile on your little one’s face, so investing in a wall mounted toy that does exactly this is a good way to ensure both baby and you have a giggle. Finally, if you’re trying to calm your little one down before bed you may find that supplying their bath time with a bevy of toys is more likely to make them excitable. To relax your child and tie in their bath time with their bedtime, incorporate reading as you bathe. Waterproof books are easy to come by and are a calming way to spend your evening bedtime preparations.

Between the bubbles, splashing, coos and giggles-bath time is the perfect time of the day to engage your baby’s senses and nurture your bond. You should always try to have non-slip mat or support pillow/chair to support the baby. Keeping these things in mind will make the experience more enjoyable for you and baby. It is especially important to choose the right steps to ensure that your precious moments with your baby also do good for her delicate skin.
